Clinical Efficacy of Ceftriaxone Therapy in the Treatment of Bone & Soft Tissue Infection

Abstract

|
Ceftriaxone, a broad-spectrum Cephalosporin with a markedly extended half life, was administered to 40 patients with 10 bone and 30 soft tissue infections. All of patient received 2gm once daily intravenously.
The following results were obtained:
Overall, 87; 5% had a satisfactory clinical response and cure rate was 73.3% of soft tissue infection, 70.0% of bone infection. In 5 case failure was corrected with pseudomonas(3case), staphylococcus aureus and superinfection with Enterobacter. The systemic and local tolerance of the drug were satisfactory.
